  3. Thursday On Hiatus

    Thursday Logo

Thursday announced that they will be going on an indefinite hiatus following their current tour plans. They’ll be doing one more tour in North America and Australia.

“look thrice, Imma Let you finish, but…”

“Despite the fantastic year that the band has enjoyed, creatively, things haven’t been as easy for us on a personal level.  Without diving into detail, it’s fair to say that this year has been an endless series of personal difficulties.  We haven’t had any falling out and are all still close.  I’m sure that we will continue to create, in some capacity, together.  We’ve talked about turning Thursday into something else: a non-profit, a band that only records sporadically, a collection of other projects… Underneath it all, the personal circumstances involved make it impossible to continue Thursday in the spirit that has made it special.  So, we stop.  For now, at least.”

  4. Thrice Hiatus

Thrice is not breaking up, but the band announced a planned hiatus after their upcoming spring tour. Vocalist, Dustin Kensrue, explained that the effects of touring for weeks at a time has become a strain on his family life, and while he maintains a strong relationship with his band members, he needs a break. His full statement is below.

Thrice is not breaking up.  If nothing has broken us up by now, I doubt anything ever could. However, we will be taking a break from being a full-time band, and the upcoming tour in the Spring will be the last one in the foreseeable future. Playing music for the past 13 years with Riley, Ed, and Teppei has been such a gift.  We have been able to see the world, share music with thousands and thousands of people, and make records with a variety of talented and inspiring people.  The four of us have been through many highs and lows and overcome them together.  I value their friendship, and it has been a great priviledge to play alongside them for so long.  They are truly an amazingly gifted group of people, and the ways we’ve grown together as people and musicians has been a joy to experience. Along the way we have adapted to many changing situations, especially the growing families of both Teppei and myself, but it has been harder and harder for me with each step.  I have three little girls now under the age of 5, and it is a huge strain on my family and I when I’m away for several weeks at a time.  The way we’ve been doing things for a while is simply not sustainable for me anymore. I don’t know what the future looks like for Thrice, or for any of us individually.  I do know that I would love to make more music in the future with them, as well as play some shows or short tours, but for the time being, I need to step out of the role of full time touring/recording musician, and will do so after this tour.  I will continue to make music in various capacities I’m sure, and continue in my work as a Worship Director at Mars Hill Church in Orange County. I know this will be very disappointing news to many people, and for that I am truly sorry.  The amount of support and love we’ve been given in our career is staggering and overwhelming.  I know I’m biased, but I think we have the best fans in the world. This upcoming tour should be a lot of fun.  We are planning for it to be somewhat of a celebration of the last 13 years and I’m sure we’ll be breaking out a bunch of songs that have been buried in the archives.  I hope to see you out there to celebrate with us. I never expected to be able to do any of this, let alone do it for 13 years, with such amazing bandmates, such gifted and hard working crew and management, and such incredible and loyal fans.  Thank you all.

  5. The Hiatus Kids

The Get Up Kids announced that despite a recently-released new album and a European tour ahead, they will be going on a hiatus to work on other projects after the tour.

Hey friends, a heads up too, if you are thinking of making it out to one of the upcoming shows. This is most likely the last chance to see us over in Europe for a while - we are all pretty much splitting off to do some different projects once we’re back home. So if you’re saying “I’ll see it next time…” you may well have a long long wait! See you soon, then?!

  7. Goodbye For Now IPS

Innerpartysystem announced today that they are going on an indefinite hiatus. The band claims there is no animosity and they are not breaking up. They will be making more music as individuals some time in the near future.

    The full statement is below:

We find ourselves struggling to find the right way to start this statement to you all. Maybe a clever anecdote, or short story with some witty but true moral is in order? Nah, lets just stick to the facts. You all have been beyond amazing to us, and you deserve nothing less than the honest truth.

innerpartysystem is going on indefinite hiatus. We aren’t breaking up nor do we hate each other. As a matter of fact, we are all great friends. BROTHERS. Our experiences with this band and the people we’ve met over the past 6 years have shaped us into who we are today. We will without a doubt look back on these times with nothing but positive thoughts and feelings.

While we will always treasure our time as innerpartysystem, we as individuals have chosen a path different from the one the band originally set out on.  We can’t stress enough that this is a very positive move for us.  As we’ve grown, we want to move on to new projects that keep us excited about making music.  Such is life.  We promise, there will be music coming from all 3 of us separately, at some point.

So, with that being said, here’s some facts…

Will there be a last show(s)? Of course! We want this send off to be a party!  We are playing August 26th at Building 24 in Reading, a special outdoor show in Hoboken on August 27th, and we’re making a trip out west to see our friends in Denver at the Bluebird Theatre on the 28th.

Can I cop any IPS swag at a super sweet discounted price? Absolutely. There will be a mega indefinite hiatus sale at both our US and UK merch stores starting early next week.

“Indefinite Hiatus”? What the hell does that even mean? It means we are taking a break from Innerpartysystem.   Beyond that we don’t really know.

    Until next time…

Everyone at the likeZEBRA office hopes the hiatus is only a short one.
